Subject:Clex Recs (Clex Rex? Clerex?)
Time:04:19 pm
First, Clark was not completely, 100% heterosexual, contrary to prior evidence, which included some truly pathetic behavior on Lex’s part. Thus, Clark had rejected Lex himself, not Lex’s equipment. Lex actually felt himself moving through Kubler-Ross’s five stages of grief: denial (she can’t be right; she’s never met Clark’s boyfriend; there’s no actual reason to think he has a boyfriend—except for what Clark says about his boyfriend’s eyes, moron), anger (wondering how hard it would be to run the Kent farm into the ground and get Clark kicked out of school), bargaining (maybe he’s changed his mind and would like me now), depression (Dad was right; no one could genuinely want me, and certainly no one like Clark), and finally acceptance (a mélange of all these feelings, with a thin candy coating of calm).

1. Read [info]rivkat's "Rainbow Sign" (Smallville, Clex) and her DVD commentary =DDD

2. Months and months ago, [info]rivkat wrote "No Such AU" (Clex) for my Thief!Lex prompt. It ended up being Spy!Lex, but close enough!

3 a. [info]mahaliem wrote this hilarious Clex drabble: "A Cherry"

3 b. and Things I Love About Smallville - Post 4 (Warning for b00bies and nekkid Lex chest)

And if the vampire turns someone, even if it’s only once per book, extrapolate that back for however many centuries or millenia vampires have existed, figure out about how many vampires there probably are in the world, and escalate the problem accordingly. Even the occasional Van Helsing with a satchel full of stakes isn’t going to be able to hold back that particular tide — how long before the human population dwindles to the point where the vampires are all going to starve to death?

1. Last day to post requests at hallowedmoments.
For some reason everyone's been asking for gen and canon pairings. Go request some fanon pairings, why don't you? Rules for requests are here.

2. Submit D/s and BDSM prompts for thematic_hp round 10.

3. Claim your Malfoycest Day prompt.

4. Lucius in Azkaban uniform looks so much like buttfacemakani's fanarts X-D
For some reason the image link in that article is broken. If anyone wants the large sized image I can upload it.

5. Another video of Tom Felton playing the guitar:
Feltbeats - Time well spent medley
I prefer when he's not singing and just playing (Silhouettes in sunsets), but the dork boy's having fun *g*

Subject:On Real ID, Batman & Superman
Time:04:23 pm
I'm surprised that this is the first time I've heard of Real ID. Either it wasn't a big deal in my state, or the cave I've been in is more removed from civilization than I thought.

Supposedly Real ID will reduce identity theft. But considering that I lose my ID cards, insurance cards and library cards all the time I think Real ID is not better for me. Heh.

Section 202(b) of the Act directs that REAL ID-compliant licenses
and identification cards must include the following information: pretty standard stuff )

I haven't bothered getting a state ID ever since I lost mine a few years back. Should get a driver's license too *is lazy*. After I become a citizen and change my name.

Anyway, I found out about Real ID via links from Batman, son of Superman Batman bin Suparman.
That's a real name. Suparman is a common name in Java, Indonesia. The similarity to a certain outside-underwear-red-boots-wearing alien is purely coincidental.

Too funny to not copy and paste here )

My friend in junior high was named Yasser Arafat, I kid you not.
So in retrospect naming your son after an American angsty anti-hero superhero makes more sense than naming your son after two Middle Eastern dictators leaders someones. At least it's not "Dick Grayson, twelve years old."

Subject:Why fangirls frighten some fans of 'Harry Potter'

The point being, when it's women, we -- meaning straight men -- tend to find it titillating, exotic, arousing in its very forbiddance. When it's men, we -- meaning straight men and women -- tend to react as if somebody dropped a snake in the bed.

The point being, when it's men, we -- meaning straight women -- tend to find it titillating, exotic, arousing in its very forbiddance. We -- meaning Harry Potter fangirls -- also tend to react as if somebody dropped a snake in the bed. That is, lick our lips and think, Yum, Parselsmut.

1 a. [info]slytherin_100's third prompt is Game, open until January 5, 2008. Bonus points if you include Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort.
The second prompt, maze, is open until December 29 (bonus points if you include Blaise Zabini).

1 b. My response: "Mind Games"--(Padma Patil, perceived H/D, 100 words).
I might have written Ten Things about Padma Patil too >_> Will expand it to 20 Things.

2. The two-week special writing_game is up here. This is also the trial run for our new Post Secret feature =D

3. Psst! Snamione fans! Match the story to the quote Christmas quiz.

4. FYI, Americans, the British do not use the word "cooties." I changed "Gryffindor cooties" to "Gryffindor germs" in my 20 Things about Score.

5. I'm only 2/3 done with the fic that is due on the 23rd. Haha. Ha. 1000-2000 more words to go... @_@ And still need last-minute beta too. Shoot.

Some arguments against fanfic (with refutations) @ LJ and IJ
If fanfic is indeed more about social interaction and acceptance than it is about dollars and cents…
And if fanficcers are truly interested in taking the authors wishes into account…
And if they just want to have fun without hurting anybody…
Then perhaps we need to create a technological version of the video store’s back room, with thick red curtains and a sign that says “Anyone who gets creeped by Kirk and Spock fondling each other should stay the hell out“. If it’s compartmentalized, I doubt many people would object.
--Ed Bartlett

Bring on the thick red curtains! \o/

1. herohunter wrote Clex discussing Harry Potter for me, me, me. MWAHAHAHA.
"Of Wizards and Hobbits" (Lex/Clark, G, DH spoilers, 838 words)
Summary: Lex and Clark have deep discussions sometimes (I'm not sure this is one of them...).

2. [info]rivkat wrote me an amazing thief!Lex too, but I am horrible and haven't read or commented ^^;;
Will rec after I properly go supernova fangirly on her.

3. It looks like I'll be writing the Lex-Luthor-is-sorted-into-Slytherin and becomes Malfoy's muggleborn pet HP/SV fic(let) myself. =P
Will try to keep it at 750-1000 words.
