Some arguments against fanfic (with refutations) @ LJ and IJ

If fanfic is indeed more about social interaction and acceptance than it is about dollars and cents…
And if fanficcers are truly interested in taking the authors wishes into account…
And if they just want to have fun without hurting anybody…
Then perhaps we need to create a technological version of the video store’s back room, with thick red curtains and a sign that says “Anyone who gets creeped by Kirk and Spock fondling each other should stay the hell out“. If it’s compartmentalized, I doubt many people would object.

Title: How to Obtain a Companion
Author: lilian_cho
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: mild R for cursing and sexual situations
Word count: 2791 words
Beta: First draft beta-ed by the awesome saerabbande. This version is not yet beta-ed because I am a terrible and wondrous procrastinator. All writing and characterization quirks are my fault.
Summary: How one Draco Malfoy came into the company of one Harry Potter. Written for serpentinelion prompt 34 from hdcaptain: I would love to read something based on the jdrama kimi wa petto (you are my pet), except for the no sex part obviously. Harry agrees to let Draco live with him (for whatever reason) only if Draco agrees to be his pet, meaning he has no human rights. A happy ending is a must and Harry renaming Draco is a big plus (the pet-persons name is momo in the drama, it means peach and is a common dogs name).
Author’s Note: This parallels only episode one of Kimi wa Petto — therefore, no sex. (…and no definite ending. Yet.) My apologies. Will endeavor to write a sequel. I can’t respond to comments immediately (uber-slow Internet), but feedback is v. much appreciated. Especially re: characterization. And disjointed narrative. *headdesk*
