The dragon (a monster as big as a mountain!) took one look at his toy sword and snorted.

"You don't scare me, dragon! Knights always kill the monsters in the end!"

"Prince Arthur Pendragon," the dragon said, as if Arthur had not spoken. "The world will kill and eat you. But not if you eat the heart of the world first."

Arthur frowned. The dragon wasn’t following the storyline.

"Two golden children sharing one destiny."

In the morning, he would think that it was all a dream.

Remix of lye_tea 's Fairytale Floss for remixthedrabble. I like how this one turned out; I basically lifted phrases from the original and changed the context. The original phrases refer to Light/Misa, Misa & Ryuuk etc., but I turned it around, changed the speaker and the story =3

Just got my remixthedrabble assignment (Four remixes, here I come!). So am finally getting around to x-posting some drabbles. And updating my fic masterlist...the next few days.

1. Uhura: It got awkward after he got caught with his pants down with Gaila. At one point he thought she only batted for the girl team, because nothing else explained why she didn't celebrate the awesomeness that is James T. Kirk.

2. Bones: Jim would tap that grumpy Southern doctor so hard, except Bones was the only best friend he had. And painfully straight besides. (They never talked of the My Divorce Papers Came Through Incident.)

3. Chekov: Sulu would kill him. (Didn't stop Jim from calling him "Ensign Jailbait" though.)

4. Nurse Chapel: She's blond and hot, and not entirely immune to his charm. But he once caught her making goggly eyes at Spock. I know, right?

5. Ambassador Spock: It was cold at Delta Vega, but not that cold.

i. Spock: Jim decided to cut the middle man (or women) and go straight to the cockblocking source.

Except he had slipped horribly—over Merlin, of all people—and it was no use to protest that he’s mine or you gave him to me, because he had not forgotten that Apple was a present when he turned seven.

His father had no rights on his manservant (his friend, his favourite), and still he left marks of possession on Merlin’s skin.

Ron would never admit this to anyone, not Harry and certainly not Hermione, but when he was ten he wrote a letter asking for admission to Durmstrang.

He never did send the letter. When the twins scared him with Giant Squid stories, he would picture that letter, tucked away in a chest under his bed with his old teddy.

Once sorted into Gryffindor, he forgot all about the letter until the Durmstrang delegation arrived for the Triwizard tournament.

He wouldn't trade his friendship with Harry for anything, but just imagine: he could've gone to the same school as Viktor Krum!

Scorpius lowered his glasses and gave him a look. “Unlike your parents, my parents were perceptive enough to guess that I’m gay back in fourth year.”

Al blanched. “You mean—”

“When my dad said, ‘I’m glad my son has you to take care of him,’ he didn’t mean it platonically,” Scorpius said.

Summary: There was always a price. The balance of nature was transactional - one thing of a certain value required the sacrifice of equal value given up by the one who asked.

But Arthur never finished those thoughts, kept all of his heart locked up tight. Merlin knew what he was going to say anyway, knew of the way Arthur kept looking over his shoulder when he thought no one was watching. Arthur had nightmares, dreams of a world without him in it, all the more terrible for their warmth and muted beauty, hitting like a physical blow when he woke up.

The first time Merlin kissed Arthur, they were standing on an ocean of grass.

Merlin trembled a little, and the kiss remained chaste until Arthur pulled at his stupid scarf—trust Merlin to be wearing a scarf on a glorious summer day—and plundered Merlin's lips.

The grass was heavy with dew, and later Arthur would find mud dotting the back of his jeans. But right this moment he could only listen to the tiny sounds Merlin made at the back of his throat.

The first time Arthur kissed Merlin, just two nights ago, he had thought Merlin was asleep.

Speaking of drabbles, I've narrowed down my remixthedrabble assignment to 6 potentially-to-be-remixed fics. Go me! I wonder if I can remix the same drabble twice?

I wanna write more Good Omens drabbles (Seven Deadly Sins--it never gets old). And Merlin. And obviously a Slytherin drabble for the base drabble of the above drabble tree. All roads lead back to Draco Malfoy ;-)

The great thing about very short forms is that at their best they concisely express one single idea. A true drabble has to encapsulate set-up, crisis, and punchline in a mere hundred words. So it's a natural transformation, I think, to take a story and distill it into its essence, when one has only a few hundred words to work with - I think it's easier to get sidetracked when you need to write a longer story.

I've signed up both as remixer and remixee =) It's a Drabble Purist Round this time.

2. Also, LDWS comm.s, why the high upper limit? 499-word = flopsy, not a drabble. And 1K words = ficlet, not a drabble.
This is what modding a drabble community get you, you turn into a purist without realizing it =P

3. You know what Merlin pastiche hasn't been done yet? Merlin/FMA. So, Merlin characters in an FMA-like world.
Consider this: magic ~ balance // alchemy ~ equivalent exchange.

Merlin saves Arthur's life but Something Goes Horribly Wrong. Arthur comes back to life, but now he's caught in a never-ending loop of Saving the Day and Dying a Bloody, Tragic Death at a Terribly Young Age.
After the however many times Merlin had Arthur dying in his arms, Merlin swears to break the circle. But what does Merlin have left to offer up in exchange (and not having Arthur die on him again?)

Rights, I guess, equals entitlement, equals a demand for privilege. It's hard for me to think of a right to be free when I've grown up in a family and a society where my family members - and country members - have sacrificed everything they are (in "Western terms") for their family. Their time, all their income, every inch of their soul and being, in family. Their children are their assets, their stability is their bedrock. Whatever right one has to be something less than practical, to leave the family home, that right gets overwhelmed by other desires. Same as freedom. The desire to see parents happy, or the wish for a smooth life, even in exchange for doing what one loves.

3. Why Aren't People Commenting on My Post/Story/Whatever?
