Slytherin_100 prompt & Fanfiction meme
[info]slytherin_100's second prompt is Maze.
The challenge is open until December 29, 2007. Bonus points if you include Blaise Zabini.

The first prompt, seasons, is open until December 22, 2007. Feel free to combine the two prompts.

Looking back to my old answers to this fanfic meme back in June 2005 (F-locked at LJ). And I lol'd. Figured it's high time to revise my answers.

* Why do you write fanfiction?

2005: I write I am Responsible for My Rose to get people to read The Little Prince, for one. I'm also practising my fiction writing, since I've never done such a long fiction before. After IMR4MR, I'm moving on to original fics.

Now: AHAHAHHAHA. Maybe I jinxed myself with that statement. I need to finish IMR4MR before I can move on to original fics? X-D
Seriously, I just get a gazillion more fanfic plotbunnies when compared to original fic plotbunnies. Even for Santa_Olivia, which should be easy to write…I can’t write the beginning. Probably need to skip the beginning and start in the middle, then go back later on =P

* What made you start?

2005: Re-reading The Little Prince for the third or fourth time, I suddenly see how it can be fused with Harry Potter.

[…]

I placed a strict schedule on myself because I know that I'm going to slack off and not finish IMR4MR if I don't update regularly :-P

Now: Too, too true. *wipes tears of mirth*
On one hand, I want to finish IMR4MR. On the other hand, I don’t want to rush it because every single chapter is precious to me. I don’t want to do it wrong, so to speak.

* Slash, Het, or Gen?

2005: Gen, but can be read as pre-slash *shrug*
I like to write HP characters as children, so *coughillegalcough*

Now: Slash more than gen. Occasional het does creep in. I just joined RomancingWizard today.

* What fandoms do you write in?

2005: Harry Potter. Anime is...too dark and angsty. For HP you can do lighthearted and fluff, so...

Now: still primarily HP. I wouldn’t be opposed to writing Good Omens though. And a HP/SV crossover (Lex Luthor in Hogwarts! \o/)

* What fandoms do you read in?

2005: Mostly Harry Potter, occasionally Full Metal Alchemist. I've read Hikaru no Go, Tenipuri (such a boys' love happy place...), Naruto (Shikamaru is love!), Death Note, etc.

Now: HP, Smallville. Losing interest in SV. I flit around from (non-HP) fandom to fandom like a butterfly!

* What's the worst story you've ever written?

2005:
This story that's more like a stream of consciousness than a story...That tells me I shouldn't write fiction when feeling uninspired.

Now: Yep, still that same story.

* What writers are your inspiration?

2005:
For the surreal: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. For children's literature: C.S. Lewis. For world-building: J.R.R. Tolkien. For feminism: Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
Let's see, must not forget Shakespeare and Jane Austen. And the Bible.
Fanfic authors that inspire me: copperbadge (his AU SH / LC), mistful (subtext galore), mirasfics (plot!)

Now: Gosh. Umm, a lot of things in popular culture? I blame fandom.
Lately I’ve also been in love with Megan Whalen Turner. Hmm, and I love poetry too. The straightforward kind, like Robert Frost and Edna St. Vincent Millay. I also like e.e. cummings.

* WIPs or completed stories only?

2005:
Both. I post every single chapter of IMR4MR because I need the feedback...for guidance and motivation ;-)

Now: Ahahaha. If it’s short, I post the WIPs under F-lock. If it’s long, I post completed chapters publicly. But will refrain from plugging until the story’s more than half-finished.

* Tag people to respond to this.

[info]enchanted_jae and anyone else who wants to fill this out =)
